AI sprite generator for 2D game characters

Motion Sprite AI brings AI character design, animation generation, background removal, frame editing, sprite sheet exports, and a sprite marketplace into one workspace. Create and organize your own assets or explore characters and packs from sellers.

How to create sprites with AI

  1. Start a project and add credits. Sign in to access your workspace. Subscribe to Pro or Enterprise for monthly credits, or buy a one-time refill on any plan. AI image and video generation is not free.
  2. Design your character. Describe its appearance, style, and colors, or upload artwork and reference images. Choose an aspect ratio and review the character concept.
  3. Generate or import motion. Describe an animation to generate a video from the character. Pro and Enterprise users can also upload videos or sprite sheets.
  4. Process and refine frames. Remove green-screen backgrounds, select the frame range, adjust FPS, and use the frame editor to clean up the result.
  5. Save, export, or publish. Save your animation to its character, export PNG sprite sheets or GIF previews from your own workspace, or submit a sprite or character group for marketplace review as a seller.

What you can do with Motion Sprite AI

AI character and sprite creation

Generate character images from text prompts, upload your own artwork, use reference images, and draw visual guidance. Choose square, wide, or portrait aspect ratios.

Describe the appearance and style you want, including pixel art or other 2D artwork. Use an existing image as a reference, draw over it to guide a new generation, and save the result as your character concept.

AI animation and video-to-sprite conversion

Animate a character from a motion prompt and extract frames from the result. Pro and Enterprise accounts can also import videos or slice uploaded sprite sheets into frames.

Preview generated motion before processing it into sprite frames. AI generation uses paid credits. For an imported sprite sheet, set the row and column counts to extract the individual frames.

Background removal and frame editing

Remove green-screen backgrounds, adjust removal tolerance, trim the frame range, and control playback FPS. Refine individual frames with a brush, eraser, magic wand, and eyedropper.

Zoom and pan around the editing canvas, step through frames, pick a paint color, adjust brush size, and undo edits. Preview the animation and save the processed frames to your character.

Cloud projects and visual organization

Organize saved work into projects, character groups, sprites, and animations. Search your workspace and navigate its expandable visual canvas with zoom and pan.

Name and manage your projects and nodes, save character concepts and animation frames to your account, and reopen them for further editing. The app also includes a collapsible sidebar and light and dark themes.

PNG sprite sheets and creator exports

Export your own animations as PNG sprite sheets or GIF previews, download concept images, and bundle multiple character animations in ZIP files. Choose resized or original-source exports.

The creator workspace offers Light, Medium, High, and original-source export options. These tools apply to your own creations; marketplace buyers download PNG assets, not GIF files.

Sprite marketplace and character packs

Search assets by name or category, save favorites, preview animations, and select characters inside a pack. Use the cart, PayPal checkout, and purchase history to access PNG downloads.

Browse individual sprites and multi-character packs, inspect seller profiles, and read ratings and reviews. Check the included animations, output options, price, and personal or commercial license on each listing.

Publishing and seller tools

Submit individual sprites or groups with square pack covers, set listing details and licenses, and manage listings through admin review. Track sales, earnings, published assets, and downloads.

Seller accounts can connect PayPal, submit listing updates, and review sales in their dashboard. Publication limits and seller progression are shown in the app; submitted content must be approved before it appears publicly.

Creator profiles and activity notifications

Customize your public profile, follow sellers, like sprites, and leave purchase reviews. Check the activity inbox for marketplace updates, publication activity, and payment notifications.

Profiles bring a creator's published work together with their description and follower count. The inbox separates payments from other activity and provides unread filters and controls to mark notifications as read.

Subscriptions and generation credits

All AI image and video generation requires credits. Subscribe to Pro or Enterprise for monthly credits, or buy a one-time credit refill, including on a Free account. There is no free generation queue.

An image costs 1 credit and a video costs 6 credits. Plans have different project, group, sprite, and animation limits, with monthly or annual billing available. Without enough credits, subscribe or refill before generating; Free access does not include AI generations.

Feature availability depends on your plan, generation mode, and account type. Check the in-app plan details for current limits; review generated assets for quality and rights before use.

Find PNG sprites and character packs

Prefer to start with an existing character? Browse the marketplace, open a listing, and preview its included animations. In a character pack, select a character thumbnail to inspect that character's animations. Available marketplace downloads use PNG format with multiple output sizes.

Always check the description, included assets, price, and license before buying. Personal and commercial licenses have different terms; a purchase does not automatically allow redistribution or resale.

Questions about creating and buying sprites

Can I publish a group of characters?

Sellers can submit a sprite group with a square cover image representing the pack. Publications go through admin review before appearing in the store.

Can I use marketplace sprites commercially?

Check the license on the specific listing. Choose assets with terms that permit your intended use and review any restrictions before incorporating them into a commercial game.

Are AI-generated sprites ready without review?

Review every result. AI output can require adjustments, and you are responsible for checking visual quality, consistency, and rights before publishing or using it.
